STORAGE NEEDS
There seems to be an unquenchable need for additional electronic storage space. In 1988, there was 1,770 terabytes of storage space shipped worldwide. This year's estimate is 80,677 terabytes and the prediction for 2001 is 6,141,889 terabytes.
The chart below may come in handy in answering the age-old question about an exabyte being larger or smaller than a yottabyte.
1 Byte = 8 bits
1 Kilobyte = 1,000 bytes
1 Megabyte = 1,000,000 bytes
1 Gigabyte = 1,000,000,000 bytes
1 Terabyte = 1,000,000,000,000 bytes
1 Petabyte = 1,000,000,000,000,000 bytes
1 Exabyte = 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 bytes
1 Zettabyte = 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 bytes
1 Yottabyte = 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 bytes

WOMEN ON THE INTERNET
The number of women accessing the Internet continues to steadily grow and at some sites the number of women exceeds that of men. In a study conducted of 6,500 adults accessing the Internet from home, RelevantKnowledge of Atlanta found that women now constitute 46% of the users. According to the same study, QVC.com is the web site with the highest percentage of women users at 76.5%. The next nine sites with the highest percentage of female users: Valuepage.com (76.2%), CBS.com (73.7%), NBC.com (72.6%), HomeArts.com (70.9%), Uproar.com (68.9%), Careermosaic.com (68.1%), Rootsweb.com (68%), Rent.net (65.7%) and Ivillage.com (65.4%).
Another example is AOL. Four years ago, sixteen percent of its membership was female. Women today make up 52% of its membership. (Source: Computerworld, 8/10/1998).
